Happy new year Brastop babes! It’s that time again when we want to start getting back into our old workout routine or even start working out after the holidays. Almost a week in we’re feeling pumped and ready however, there’s one thing we can’t go without… and that’s our trusty sports bra! It’s so important to make sure you’re wearing not only the right size, but the right sports bra for you. We’re going to talk you through the best types of sports bras for your bust shape so that it’s absolutely perfect for you. We don’t know about you, but a new sports bra is just the motivation we need to get our backsides down the gym so keep reading!
First things first - a bit about fit. Sports bras don’t necessarily fit like our everyday bras. Non-wired styles tend to not sit flat against your chest but as long as your cleavage is covered and all of your breast tissue is within the cups, it’s all good. Wired sports bras however should sit flat against your chest as well as cover your cleavage. They’re supposed to feel tighter than you usual bra, but not so much that you can’t take a deep breath comfortably.
Now we’ve got that covered, on to the styles that could work for you. Just as you would with a bra for any other occasion, you’ve got to shop around. Try a few brands and get a feel for what works on you and your boobs. If your bust is quite full and round, we suggest going for something wired with a J clip option. They offer the maximum support and if you want to take this to the next level, you just clip the J hook together and the racer back shape it gives only further enhances the support!
Our Wired Sports Bra with J-hook pick:
If your breasts are more east west, go for a style with moulded cups. This will provide shape and position your breasts in the same way an everyday bra would. Unlike non-moulded styles that let the girls move around, the construction of a moulded cup keeps them front facing for a more comfortable workout.
Our Moulded Cup Sports Bra pick:
Freya Active Sonic Sports Bra Ocean Fever
Bell shaped breasts would benefit the most from a full coverage style. The increased amount of fabric will help even everything out and distribute the weight – which is good if you’re planning on logging a high impact workout.
Our Fuller Coverage Sports Bra pick:
Glamorise No Bounce Cami Sports Bra
Teardrop shape breasts are most common within women and guess what? You’re lucky enough to get the pick of the lot! Of course not every style will necessarily work but being able to try out them all is fun!
Our All-Rounder Sports Bra pick:
Shock Absorber Multi Sports Support Bra in Grey
Try imitating the sport you’d normally do in the changing room. This may sound silly, but if want to check how secure the bra is on your boobs, there’s no harm in a little jumping up and down behind closed doors. We hope we’ve given you some insight in how to pick that perfect sports bra for you! We know we’ll be testing ours out in the gym this month and we hope you will be too!
